Bangladesh: Premier League Averages Zahid Newaz in Dhaka - 15 February 1999 His team Sadharan Bima secured ninth position in the Metropolis Premier Division League, the highest cricket league in Bangladesh. But the Indian batsman is the best scorer in the league that concluded on Saturday. From 10 matches the Sikh, Rajinder Singh collected 614 with three centuries and two half-centuries. Not only Rajinder, top four batting posiitons were captured by the imported players. Among them, two Pakistanis secured second and third positions while an Indian fourth and Kenyan sixth posititons in the prestigious league. Pakistani Manjur Akhtar who played for champions Bangladesh Biman is the second highest scorer with 571 runs that featured also three 100s and two 50s. He also became the best all-rounder claiming 18 wickets that gave him seventh position in the bowling performance. Another Pakistani, Tarek Mahmud secured the third best scorer position with 538 runs, including two century and one half-century though his team Wari could captured number 10 position in the league. However, Indian Kamal Chopra is the much-talked about batsman as he became fourth highest scorer playing only seven matches. Chopra, who played for number nine Sadharan Bima, scored 532 runs that included two 100s and three 50s. Among the Bangladeshi batsmen, Brothers Union opener Shahriar Hossain Bidyut, who also opnes for Bangladesh national side, is the best scorer. He scored 514 runs, including one century and five half-centuries. His team finished with fourth position while he, among the batsmen, became fifth. Bidyut was the best scorer in last league. In bowling, left arm spinner Mohammed Rafique of Mohammedans is the highest wicket taker claiming 34. He is followed by another spinner Enamul Haq Moni who captured 28 wickets. And in third posititon, Russel Khan of Agrani Bank with 24 wickets was a new comer.
