The Daily Star, Bangladesh Bangladesh: BCB to name 19 for World Cup
Our Sports Reporter - 26 February 1999

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will finalise the 19-man Bangladesh team for the 1999 World Cup in a meeting at the Bangabandhu National Stadium this evening.

The selectors have already prepared the list at BKSP, Savar, last evening. Chairman of the three-man selection committee--Enayet Hossain Siraj, who is also a BCB member - will place the proposal in today's meeting.

The meeting will also appoint the manager and coach of the team.

A primary camp of 29 cricketers began at the BKSP early this month. The names of the selected 19 will have to be sent to the International Cricket Council by February 28. Fifteen cricketers will be named before March 31 for the World Cup squad. The other four will remain as reserves.

Bangladesh, placed in pool B for the first round along with Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies and Scotland, will take on New Zealand in their inaugural match at Chelmsford on May 17.
