Tonga to return to South Pacific action
Tony Munro - 6 March 1999

The Tongan national team will make its first reappearance since cricket's rebirth in Tonga when it plays in the annual Crompton Cup in Fiji from April 1-5. It will join the Vanuatuan national team, Australian club side, Gingarre (from Victoria) and at least six Fijian club sides. Preliminary matches will be 30-overs a side, with the final 50-overs a side.

Cricket in Tonga has expanded quickly from four teams in 1994, when it was reintroduced, to 18 spread across Tongatapu.

Tonga's leading players received tuition from coaches sent by the MCC last September.
