ICC likely to appoint East Asia-Pacific Development officer in early April
Tony Munro - 20 March 1999

The vacant ICC East Asia-Pacific Development Officer's position is likely to be filled in early April, Australian Cricket Board official, Gerard Clarke, said last week.

Mr. Clarke said the position had created huge interest, with applications coming from China, Japan, the Philippines as well as traditional cricket countries. He said the backgrounds of the applicants were extremely varied.

A consultancy firm will hold interviews with applicants next week.

One of the first tasks of the Development Officer will be to visit both traditional and not-so traditional cricket countries in the region to assess the game's health and needs in these countries.
