National and club teams battle it out in Fiji for Crompton Cup
Tony Munro - 20 March 1999

The highlight of the Fijian domestic season occurs this Easter when overseas national and club teams battle the locals in the annual Crompton Cup, to be held in Lautoka.

As mentioned in the last edition, the preliminary matches are 30-over-a-side affairs, with the final decided over 50 overs.

The organisers will award trophies to the overall winners, plate winners, the highest team and individual scores and best individual bowling performance.

It will be the culmination of the Fijian season, which runs from October to April. There are about 40 senior grade clubs in Fiji, spread among nine main centres - Suva, Lautoka, Nadi, Labasa, Savusavu, Moce, Vanuabalavu, Lakeba and Rotuma.

There are another 40 primary and second school teams, with a major inter-school tournament scheduled for late April/May.
