Nasimul Ghani lauds effort

ICC's Development Officer for Asia, Nasimul Ghani, was full of praise for three training camps, two of which concluded on Independence Day and another earlier, undertaken by BCB's Coaching and Planning cell.

Former Pakistan captain Mushtaq Mohammad and former ICC panel umpire Mahbub Shah were in Dhaka on behalf of the ICC as trainers.

Seventy-one U-17 cricketers, including 14 from abroad took part in the ten-day residential camp at BKSP. Players from the UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, the Maldives, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh took part. Ali Nawaz of the Maldives was declared the best player of the camp. ICC Development Manager Ross Turner, Nasimul Ghani and BCB general secretary Syed Ashraful Huq were present at the BKSP on Friday when the BKSP Director-General Brigadier Sadek Hasan Rumi distributed certificates among the winners.

In another ten-day 'basics' came that concluded on Friday at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, 150 U-10 and U-13 boys took part. Besides Mushtaq, former Bangladesh fast bowler Dipu Roy Chowdhury and several other Bangladeshi coaches imparted training. The third camp, this one for umpires, 12 from the UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, the Maldives, Saudi Arabia, and 30 A and B grade umpires from Bangladesh, was also of ten days duration. Mahbub Shah was in charge of the umpires' course.
