Boteju gets big break

The national selectors included promising allrounder Hemantha Boteju in a 15 member squad that will compete in the forthcoming Triangular limited over cricket tournament to be worked off in India.

Boteju will have the opportunity of representing the national team for the first time having earlier played for the Sri Lanka 'A' side. He is also a member of the Sri Lanka World Cup pool from which the final squad will be named after this series.

In addition Sri Lanka youth cap Prasanna Jayawardena has been recalled to the side in the absence of regular wicket keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana. Meanwhile Arjuna Ranatunga returns to the side after having missed the Asian Test Championship final against Pakistan in Dhaka.

The Sri Lanka team for the Triangular limited over tournament:

Arjuna Ranatunga (captain), Aravinda de Silva (vice captain), Marvan Atapattu, Mahela Jayawardena, Eric Upashantha, Ruwan Kalpage, Hashan Tillekeratne, Chaminda Vaas, Promodaya Wickremasinghe, Hemantha Boteju, Russel Arnold, Chandika Hathurusinghe, Avishka Gunawardena, Upul Chandana, Prasanna Jayawardena.
