Sri Lanka Schools: St Peter's champs

St. Peter's College were declared Group 'A' champions of the Elephant Lemonade Cup interschool cricket tournament concluded recently.

The Peterites retained the title with a total of seven victories and they had an excellent average of 7.831 points. Their traditional rivals St. Joseph's College who also recorded five wins in the tournament emerged runners-up with an average of 6.665 points.

Mahinda College Galle took the Group 'B' title with an average of 10.901 points. The Mahindians registered three victories in the tournament while St. Anne's College Kurunegala who had two wins to their credit emerged runners-up with an average of 10.433 points.

The Group 'C' title went to Asoka MV who finished with a fine average of 13.545 points while the runners-up Aluthgama MV had an average of 11.730 points.

The first round matches of the knock out tournament will start on March 25 while the pre-quarter-finals will be worked off on March 28. However the quarter-finals which were scheduled for March 31st have been postponed due to the school vacations.

These matches will now be worked off at the end of April and the dates and the venues will be announced later.
