Sri Lanka Under 19 cricket tour to India postponed The Daily News - 10 February 1999 Sri Lanka's under 19 cricket tour to India has been put back by a week, Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) sources said yesterday. The tour has already seen one postponement from the original date of December 20 last year. The team was to leave for India on Saturday, but a fax message received on Monday stated the Indian Cricket Board had difficulty in fitting the tour at the height of its cricket season which sees the Pakistani cricketers on tour and the Ranji trophy matches in full swing. However, negotiations between the two Cricket Boards yesterday has resulted in the tour from getting cancelled. The BCCSL are awaiting fresh confirmation from their Indian counterparts and for a rescheduled itinerary. Meanwhile, the national selectors have picked a 15-member team with Upekha Fernando as captain and Prasanna Jayawardene as his deputy. If all goes well, the under 19 cricketers are expected to leave for India on February 20.
