Sri Lanka: Royal-Thomian battle for top spot

A Royal-Thomian battle is on in the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest after the count on coupon number two. Upeka Fernando of S. Thomas' leads with 144 votes, closely followed by Royal skipper Thushan Amerasuriya with 134 votes, while Eashan Abeysinghe of Ananda has crept into third position with 127 votes.

So, it all points to a interesting contest from now onwards.

In the Outstation contest, Dushantha Ranatunga of Raddoluwa MV continues to lead, but voting has not yet caught on. Ranatunga has polled 34 votes, while I. Muthalib of Maris Stella College, Negombo is second with 31 votes, while I. Muthalib of Maris Stella College, Negombo is second with 31 votes and Thushara Madanayake of Kingswood College is third with 23 votes.

Readers are reminded that Trinity College, Kandy and St. Anthony's College, Katugastota comes into the all-island category and readers should fill in the correct coupon in sending votes for cricketers of the two schools.
