Sri Lanka: Thusan and Kasun are new leaders in Observer-Bata contests The Daily News - 21 February 1999 Royal skipper Thusan Amerasuriya and Kasun Bulathsinghala of Maris Stella took over the lead in the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year and Most Popular Outstation Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contests after voting on coupon number 4. Amerasuriya has so far polled 502 votes in the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year and he displaced Anandian Eashan Abeysinghe who was the leader the previous week with 219 votes. Abeysinghe is presently second with 349 votes, while Thomian Upeka Fernando who was second last week, drops down to third position with 273 votes. In the Outstation Contest, it was a home-and-home battle with Kasun Bulathsinghala of Maris Stella, Negombo displacing Ishan Mutalip Kasun who was fourth the previous week, has so far polled 300 votes to take top spot, while Mutaliph who was last week's leader is in second position with 161 votes, while Thushara Madanayake of Kingswood who was fourth comes into third place with 137 and Dushantha Ranatunga of Raddoluwa MV who was second last week, has dropped down to fourth position with 92 votes.
