However, Royal took major honours with superior teamwork. When the match was called off with 15 mandatory overs remaining due to bad light, Trinity were 101 for 5. Royal 27 for no loss overnight declared at 200 for 4 with opener Malinda Thotuwilage top scoring with a stroke filled 92 with 9 fours. Malinda and co-opener Ravi Peiris (28) shared 89 runs stand for the 3rd wicket. Trinity dismissed for 91 in the first innings, were facing a deficit of 109 on the first innings, were struggling at 54 for 4 but in the second innings K. Weeraratne 32 and two unbeaten batsmen D. Wesley old boys from UK, Australia and Sri Lanka at cricket tomorrow Cricketers from the Wesley Old Boys Associations of England, Australia and Sri Lanka will be engaged in an over '40 years' limited overs cricket triangular at Campbell Park tomorrow (Monday). This is one amongst other celebrative events to commemorate Wesley College's 125th anniversary. There will also be hockey matches among the three teams during the week. Clinic for fast bowlers and spinners The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka has made arrangements to conduct a workshop to identify talented young fast bowlers and spinners in the country. This workshop will be held on March 2 and 3 at the Welagedera Stadium and the coaches will be former Sri Lanka Test cricketers D. S. de Silva and Rumesh Ratnayake. All participants from schools and clubs in Matale and Kurunegala Districts are requested to nominate potential bowlers over 16 years of age, the date of birth should be on or before 31st December 1982. All participants should be present at the Welagedera Stadium on March 2 at 8.30 a.m. clad in white. Inter-International girls schools softball cricket March 1 The Inter-International girls schools softball cricket tournament will be played on a knock-out basis on March 1 from 9 a.m. The draw: CIS 'A' vs Royal Institute, Wycherley International School vs Lyceum International School, Alethea International School vs Stafford International School, College of World Education vs CIS 'B'. The winners and the runners-up will be awarded challenge trophies, while there will be awards for the Best Batswoman, Best Bowler and Player of the Tournament. All awards are donated by Lalsons Pvt. Limited. Royal-Thomian veterans meet at cricket As a prelude to the Battle of the Blues veteran cricketers from Royal and S. Thomas' will battle for supremacy in an over 40's limited overs match to be played at the CCC grounds on Monday 1st March (poya). This 40 overs' match is being played for the 5th successive year and as usual will provide those players of yesteryear a chance to revive old memories of their playing days in a spirit of camaraderie. Spectators too of the same vintage are promised a day of fun and excitement seeing some of the greats of the past display their skills once again. Mohammed Rameez who has been a prolific scorer in the junior cricket tournament has a double ton to his credit and he scored 122 of his 147 runs in sixes and boundaries which gives some indication of the entertaining batting which came off his bat. Bens hold Kingswoodians to a draw Kandy South Group Correspondent St. Benedict's College, Kotahena held Kingswood College, Kandy to a draw in their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter-school cricket match which concluded at Peradeniya yesterday. The Bens were set the impossible task of scoring 169 to win in 19 overs and they did not go for it in fading light. The Sebastianites who were struggling at 64 for 6 at tea time were shielded from defeat by Pramesh Perera who scored a stubborn 54 not out with 9 fours and faced 118 balls. Earlier in the day the Antonians after being 109 for 2 at one stage folded up for 178. Spinner Tharaka de Mel ran through the tail to capture 4 for 9 in 6.3 overs. CCC School of Cricket first anniversary celebrations CCC School of Cricket celebrated its first anniversary with two six-a-side cricket tournaments for seniors and juniors at the Colts cricket ground on the 4th of February 1999. A Parents vs. Students, limited over cricket match was also held on the occasion which was won by the parents. Special awards and trophies were awarded to the winners and runners-up of the two tournaments. Arjuna's six, led by Jayavi de Silva won the seniors tournament beating Aravinda's six, led by Pavithra Solomons, while the losers' plate was won by Hashan's six led by Yasas Hewawitharana who beat Sanath's six, captained by Damith Warusawithana. Among the juniors, Murali's six led by Thilina Samarasinghe won the championship, beating Roshan's six, led by Erandha Fernando.
