Ananda openers Lakshan Fernando (45) and Dinusha Bandara (80) who shared a 131-run opening stand in the first innings came up with another good stand of 111 runs in the second innings against Mahinda in their drawn inter-school encounter at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

Mahinda in reply to Ananda's massive 301 for 7 declared were 68 for 2 overnight and they avoided a follow-on due to valuable 71-run partnership for the 8th wicket between Roshan Nalinda 73 (7 fours and 1 six) and N. Sumanasekera 28 not out. Mahinda at one stage were precariously placed 141 for 8. But Roshan and Sumanasekera batted with purpose to make a good recovery and total 212 for 9 declared.
