Sri Lanka Schools: Sylvesterians amass 397/8 The Daily News - 23 February 1999 St. Sylvester's College were involved in a run riot when they amassed 397 for 8 declared on the opening day of their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter-school cricket match against Dharmaraja College, kandy which began at Lake View grounds Kandy yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.45 am. Leading the run riot was Sylvesterian skipper Ranga Dissanayake 111 (10 fours, 2 sixers) and reached 500 runs for the season. Others who propped up the innings were run-getting prodigy Chanaka 84 (7 fours, 1 six), Arosha Perera 59 (3 fours, 2 sixers who were also involved in two century stands with the skipper. This was also the highest total in inter-school matches this year. Rajans will have an uphill task in overhauling the Sylvesterian total. Scores: St. Sylvester's College 397 for 8 decl. in 84.4 overs (Ranga Dissanayake 111, Chanaka Wijesinghe 84, Arosha Perera 59, Thilantha Liyanage 37, Zahran Hajireen 34, Jaliya Weerasinghe 17, Kalum Kumara 14, Suranga Prematillake 12, C. Wickremanayake 3 for 57, A. S. Marapana 2 for 82, N. Ekanayake 3 for 87). Dharmaraja College 20 for no loss in 11 overs (H. Ratnayake 10 not out). Lumbini MV 125/5; President's C 133 Lumbini MV were 125 for 5 in reply to President's College first innings total of 133 on the opening day of their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school cricket tournament match which began at Havelock Park yesterday. Scores: President's College: 133 (P. Munasinghe 48, N. Perera 16, D. Indimal 3 for 43, S. Nilantha 4 for 25) Lumbini MV: 125 for 5 (N. Abeyratne 40, S. Senanayake 31, L. Wickremasinghe 35, P. Abeysundera 2 for 42). Ananda 170; DSSC 93/3 D. S. Senanayake were 93 for 3 in reply to Ananda's 170 on the first day of their inter -school cricket encounter at Ananda Mawatha yesterday. Scores: Ananda 170 (Lahiru Chaturanga 88, D.Bandara 24, M.Mallawarachchi 18, Malshan Alwis 3 for 65, Lasana Dias 3 for 19,) D. S. Senanayake 93 for 3 at stumps (Muditha Maduwantha 31, Suranga Rajakaruna 23, Namal Abeywickrema 13 n.o.).
