AUSTRALIA v ZIMBABWE 1997-98 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999
At Ahmedabad, April 3. Australia won by 13 runs. Toss: Australia. Australia kept their heads to win a tight match despite a late onslaught from Campbell, the Zimbabwean captain. At 212 for three from 42 overs, Australia were looking a sizeable total. But the bowlers, finding considerable reverse swing, stuck to their task and restricted them to 252. In reply, Zimbabwe also made an encouraging start, but then it all went wrong. From 143 for one in the 30th over, they subsided to 192 for eight in the 42nd. Fleming, with three wickets in 14 balls, and Moody destroyed the lower order, and Campbell's heroics – he was last man out, for 102 – counted for nothing. Man of the Match: A. D. R. Campbell. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
