PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA 1997-98
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999

At Paarl, April 9 (day/night). Pakistan won by 110 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

Sri Lanka went down to their third defeat in three games, and their heaviest yet: they were skittled for 139 inside 35 overs, apparently hindered by floodlights that failed to reach full power. Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis led the assault, removing the first four wickets for 54. After electing to bat first, Pakistan made a brisk start, thanks to Saeed Anwar and Ijaz Ahmed, who scored 65 in 79 balls in his 200th one-day international. But a middle-order slump saw three wickets fall for one run, and it was only the wagging tail which lifted them to 249.

Man of the Match: Wasim Akram. Attendance: 7,428.
