INDIA v NEW ZEALAND 1997-98 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999
At Sharjah, April 17 (day/night). India won by 15 runs. Toss: India. At 170 for four in the 39th over, New Zealand were within easy reach of their modest target. They had done the hard work first by restricting India to 220, despite a dogged hundred from Ganguly, and then by recovering from a poor start which had seen them struggling at 33 for three. But Agarkar, bowling at pace, removed both Fleming and McMillan, who had added 85 for the fifth wicket. The tail offered little resistance, and the Indians had salvaged a victory from an indifferent performance, their first win after five consecutive Sharjah defeats. Man of the Match: A. B. Agarkar. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
