BANGLADESH v KENYA 1997-98
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999

At Hyderabad, May 17 (day/night). Bangladesh won by six wickets. Toss: Kenya. International debut: Ravindu Shah.

Bangladesh's first one-day international victory came after Kenya had overcome a poor start – 29 for two, then 89 for four – to muster 236, thanks largely to a brisk fifty from Ravindu Shah, in his first international. Bangladesh began their reply encouragingly, not losing a wicket until Ather Ali Khan was run out in the 26th over, by which time the arrears were under a hundred. Mohammad Rafiq, dropped twice on 14, rode his luck to add 77 runs to the three wickets he had taken with his left-arm spin.

Man of the Match: Mohammad Rafiq.
