ZIMBABWE v NEW ZEALAND
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999

At Harare, October 4. Zimbabwe won by three wickets. Toss: New Zealand.

Tight bowling and whole-hearted fielding paved the way for a Zimbabwe victory more convincing than it might appear. Spinners Paul Strang and Andrew Whittall choked New Zealand's run-rate and, while several batsmen began well, none batted on. Gavin Rennie and Campbell were Zimbabwe's main scorers: Rennie built his innings on careful accumulation; Campbell hit out boldly, striking three sixes. The loss of four late wickets was not enough to open the door for the New Zealanders, who were outplayed.

Man of the Match: P. A. Strang.
