†SRI LANKA v ZIMBABWE 1997-98
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999

At R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, January 24. Sri Lanka won by five wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe.

Once more, Zimbabwe's batsmen struggled against spin. They were restricted to a modest 212, despite a century by Goodwin in only his second one-day international. He scored 111 in 134 balls, and added 105 with Grant Flower. But only one other batsman reached double figures. Jayasuriya and Atapattu once more set the tone of Sri Lanka's reply, opening with 76 in 19 overs, and the home side were never in danger.

Man of the Match: M. W. Goodwin.
