Sent in to bat in heavy, overcast conditions – the match had already been reduced to 33 overs – Pakistan's batsmen struggled against the moving ball. Their top order succumbed to Prasad, who took a career-best four for 17. The match was to be replayed the following day (a request from Pakistan to move to the Premadasa Stadium was rejected). But rain washed out the new game without a ball bowled.
