BANGLADESH v INDIA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999

At Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, July 24. India won by nine wickets. Toss: India. International debut: Zakir Hassan.

Tendulkar won a vital toss in this rain-affected match. His team restricted Bangladesh to a moderate total of 130 in 43 overs. But India needed to pass that score inside 20 overs to displace Pakistan on run-rate and qualify for the final. They used just 15, left-hander Ganguly stroking an elegant unbeaten 73 off 52 balls.

Man of the Match: S. C. Ganguly.
