Jamaica: Sunlight wins Wolmer's, Bridgeport

Scores: Camperdown 95 off 34.2 overs; Wolmer's 96 for one.

Wolmer's and Bridgeport Comprehensive recorded Sunlight Cup victories in their opening Group B encounters at Heroes Circle and Bridgeport yesterday.

At Heroes Circle captain Carlton Baugh bagged seven wickets as Wolmer's carved out an easy nine-wicket victory over Camperdown High.

Batting first after winning the toss Camperdown were given a good start by openers Errol Grant (24) and Marlon Richards (33) as they posted 60 for the first wicket. A dramatic middle order collapse, however, saw the last nine wickets tumbling for 35 runs. Baugh, bowling his leg-spinners, had figures of seven for 20 off 12.2 overs.

Wolmer's coasted to victory from just 17.5 overs. Opening batsman Donovan Pagon scored 34 not out while Baugh underlined his allround ability with an unbeaten 26.

Scores: Clan Carthy 54; Bridgeport Comprehensive 55 for one.

At Bridgeport, the home team scored a nine-wicket victory over Clan Carthy Comprehensive.

Sent into bat Clan Carthy were all out in just 25 overs. No batsman reached double figures. Craig Dawkins took four for 16 in nine overs, Damion Douglas three for six in four overs and Christopher Hopwood two for 12 runs destroyed the Clan Carthy innings.

Bridgeport reached their target in 11.1 overs. Vice-captain Ryan Clarke 21 not out and Omar Haynes 14 not out got the bulk of the runs.

At Clan Carthy, home team Kingston Technical and Campion College played to a draw after badlight ended play twenty minutes before the scheduled close of play.

Scores: Kingston Technical 160 from 52 overs (Ian Dewar 48, Omar Martin 37, Kavier Campbell 14 not out; Richard Reynolds 5-32, Rajesh Jaghi 3-42); Campion College 115 for five (Dane Brodber 32 not out, Rajesh Jaghi 27, Richard Reynolds 20; Norman Malcolm 2-27).
