Samuels, who was dropped from the West Indies team after the regional team's tour to Australia in 1995, has been in poor form with the bat for Jamaica since. He has been replaced in the Jamaica squad by Mario Ventura.

The left-handed Samuels, who made his first class debut in 1989 against India, only managed six runs in the first Busta Cup game against the Leeward Islands at Sabina which ended last week Monday. Jamaica batted once in that game and won by an innings and 58 runs.

Samuels then made only one and 16 in the second game against Guyana which was concluded on Monday, with Jamaica losing by 28 runs.

Medium-pacer Laurie Williams, who sustained a broken finger in the game against Guyana, will not travel with the team. He has been replaced by Kirk Powell.

Two other players have been drafted into the squad, left-arm spinner Ryan Cunningham and fast bowler Audley Sanson.

However, Sanson could be replaced by Courtney Walsh, if the West Indies pacer is passed fit by a doctor.
