Even the three positive declarations in the Wesley-Thomian cricket encounter at Mt. Lavinia, was of no avail and the match ended in a draw yesterday.

S. Thomas' in quest of 175 runs for victory were 88 for 3 wickets at close.

S. Thomas', continuing from their overnight 73 for 4 in reply to Wesley's first innings score of 203 for 6 declared, found runs hard to come by, in keeping with the loss of wickets and opened out the game by declaring an hour before lunch with their score at 158 for 7.

Skipper Dharshika Jayakody and Hashim Ziard claimed two wickets apiece for Wesley.

Batting again half an hour before lunch Wesley, enjoying a lead of 45 runs lacked enterprise after losing four wickets for 47, to declare at 4.15 p.m. with their score at 129 for 6 with Darshana Medagedara unbeaten on 43.

S. Thomas' chasing a victory target of 175 runs in 95 mts inclusive of the 20 mandatory overs, were 88 for 3 at the close.

Dharshika was adjudged man of the match and received his award from the acting warden of S. Thomas' D. A. Packianathan.
