Sri Lanka Schools: Cambrians hold Peterites to a draw Ranjan Anandappa - 31 January 1999 Prince of Wales did well to hold St.Peter's to a draw after following-on in their inter-school cricket encounter at Bambalapitiya yesterday. In reply to the Peterites first innings total of 331 for 7 declared, the Cambrians who were 47 for 4 overnight were all out for 166. Following-on with a defecit of 165 runs, the Cambrians came back strongly with 152 for 3 at one stage,but a middle order collapse triggered by Peterite spinner Kaushal Lokuarachci who had figures of 4 for 54 saw the Cambrians soon on the ropes. After Rashan Pieris (69) and skipper Hasantha Fernando(40) added a valuable 91 runs for the third wicket, Buddika Dananjaya (31) and Manjula Bandara (15) put the match beyond the Peterite victory bid, batting till the 15th mandatory over. At the end the home team were left to get 66 runs off the remaining mandatory overs. St. Peter's were 16 for no wicket at close. Scores: St. Peter's 331 for 7 declared ( Jerome Fernando 36, Angelo Fonseka 58, Mahesh Perera 27, Sean Gunasekera 37,Suranga Pinto 62, Dilshan Rupasinghe 50, P.Ranaweera 4 for 100.) and 16 for no loss (Jermoe Fernando 13 n.o). Prince of Wales 47 for 4 overnight 166 (S.Wijeratne 31, J.Wannakuwatte 67 n.o, Aman Samsudeen 3 for 40, Nirmal de Silva 5 for 26,) and 230 (Rashan Pieris 69, Janaka Gunaratne 20, Hasantha Fernando 40, Buddika Dananjaya 31, Manjula Bandara 15, Aman Samsudeen 2 for 12, Kaushal Lokuarachchi 4 for 54, Dilshan Rupasinghe 2 for 48.)
