Dawn Ad hoc body to meet next week

KARACHI, July 25: The ad hoc committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will hold its first formal meeting at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore next week. Chairman of the ad hoc committee, Mujeebur Rahman, said from Islamabad that his first priority was to complete his committee.

``For that, I will pick a member each from Karachi and Peshawar. And when the corum is complete, a formal meeting will be held. ``I expect to induct two members this week,'' he stated. He said in the first meeting, a selection committee would be constituted.

He added that the ad hoc committee of the associations would also been constituted before the start of the season. ``But my priority at the moment is to form a selection committee.''

He said he plans to visit Karachi on July 29. He said during the visit, he will meet former Test players and other officials before selecting one for his committee.

Meanwhile, Col.Naushad Ali, advisor to Mujeebur Rahman, visited Karachi on Sunday. He met with several people including Nasimul Ghani, Iqbal Qasim, Sikandar Bakth, Taslim Arif, Aftab Baloch and Dr Mohammad Ali Shah.

According to sources, Iqbal Qasim expressed his interest in the domestic cricket while Taslim Arif and Aftab Baloch were interested in coaching of junior teams. Nasimul Ghani, a former chairman of selectors, expressed his willingness to work as a selector.
