The Barbados Nation Barbados Clubs: Three share lead
The Barbados Nation - 11 July 1999

There is a three-way tie at the top of the Barbados Cricket Association's Courts/Suzuki Division 1 championship as it goes into a five-week break.

Defending champs Police, ICB Empire and Caribbean Home Insurance Schools South top the table with 17 points each after four rounds.

Police lost the chance to go clear when they were beaten by BNB St. Catherine yesterday in an exciting last-over finish at Bayfield.

The Division 1 and Intermediate Premier Zone take a break to accommodate the Nortel West Indies Youth Championship which begins on Tuesday. The fifth series starts on August 14.

But the other divisions – Intermediate Zones A, B, and C and the Goddard Enterprises Schools League – will continue as usual.

Apart from St. Catherine's, the only victory recorded yesterday was by Banks, over Mount Gay Maple at Trents.

There was a tense finish at Beckles Road where the last pair of Dewars White Label YMPC survived 19 balls to force a draw.

The Schools' North and South clash ended in a draw with the highlight being an unbeaten 88 from Dion Lovell, who is not in the Nortel line-up.

Cockspur Wanderers piled up the highest score for the season – 362 – in taking first innings points from E.S.A. Field Pickwick.
