Glenn Mcgrath has been cleared to play for Worcestershire next year by the Australian Cricket Board, who had earlier expressed concerns about contracted players taking on an increased workload.

Chairman Denis Rogers said the Test bowler had earned the right to sign a county contract. ``We think he's made too big a contribution to Australian cricket to just be bloody-minded about it,'' said Rogers.

Rob Turner, of Somerset, is by a considerable distance the best batsmen among the country's wicketkeepers, according to the latest PPP Healthcare Championship computer rankings.
