No real 'set-back', says Hunte Sherrylyn Clarke - 29 July 1999 Sir Conrad Hunte, challenger for the presidency of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA), is disappointed that the annual general meeting will not be held today. ``I am definitely disappointed. It is like preparing for a Test match, you are all set and ready to go and the umpire or someone else says that because of a technicality you will not be able to play,'' he said. The meeting, including the race between Hunte and incumbent Tony Marshall is one of the most hotly debated local topics. It will not be held as reports and notices were not sent out in a timely manner. Hunte, who was speaking after a presentation at the annual summer camp of the Empire sports club Tuesday, said that he had not yet received his notice. He also heard of the hitch via radio. ``From the same report on the radio, I heard that they will have to get the court to change the rules of the BCA. The AGM, by rule, should not be later than July 31. Notices and reports have to be given two weeks and both have not been able to happen.'' He said that all parties should be consulted before a new date is fixed because there are several people who will be affected. ``People have already made plans for the months of August and September. We need to have a consultation with the board and all who are involved as well as the courts to decide when is the right time for this to take place now,'' he suggested. But this will not be seen as a set-back by Hunte, it is simply more time to do some campaigning. ``Even though it is disappointing, it is also an opportunity I intend to use to the fullest to reach more members, to explain my vision and mission and get more support in order to be able to fulfil them,'' he said.
