The Barbados Nation Hunte - Support across board
The Barbados Nation - 23 July 1999

Sir Conrad Hunte has written to members of the Barbados Cricket Association in support of his candidacy for the position of president.

The following is the portion of his letter dealing with promised support from members of the current board of management.

I am happy to tell you that I have shared my vision and plans with members of the current board and several have pledged their support for the policies I have outlined above.

They have also agreed that I may let you know this.

However, they have strongly stressed that their support is for a direction as opposed to any particular personality, and I think this is an absolutely correct position to hold.

Those current members include Charles Griffith, second vice-president; Joel Garner, third vice-president, and Pat Greenidge, treasurer, all of whom are offering themselves in their current positions.

The same goes for board members Richard Edwards, Stephen Farmer, Calvin Hope and Conde Riley, who again offer themselves to the membership.

I also wish to add that while I have had the opportunity to talk at some length to those individuals named above, it is my intent, if given the opportunity, to work with whomsoever the membership elects.

Our goal must be the raising of our cricket back to its former glory, and the building of a unified team behind that objective should be our only concern.

Having contributed to the development of cricket and cricketers in many parts of the world, my intention is to combine my accumulated knowledge and experience with that of the other team members for the benefit of our local game.
