Lancashire District: Attock on attack

A Heavily reinforced Attock team won through to the quarter finals of the Hyndburn Mayoral Challenge on Wednesday, beating host club Accrington A by 54 runs.

Batting first, Accrington and District League leaders Attock hit 108-4 in their allotted 10 overs. Opener K Elahi top scored with 30 and Abrar Shah hit 22 not out.

For Accrington A, Mus Shah was the most economical, his two overs costing just 10 runs. Nadeem Moahmmed took 1-15 in his two spells. Accrington A got off to a bad start, losing Mick Donnelly in the first over. Tight bowling restricted the scoring rate, Liquat Khan taking 1-3 in two overs and Nadeem Elahi, 1-6.

Mus Shah hit 17, all off one Kyber Shah over for Accrington.

Millennium gained a walkover victory over Gerber Foods.

Results: Accrington A 54 (Mus Shah 17, N Stockley 16, L Khan 1-3, N Elahi 1-6), Attock 108-4 (K Elahi 30, Abrar Shah 22no, Nadeem Mohammed 1-15, N Stockley 1-19); Millennium beat Gerber Foods on a walkover.

Attock will now play Peel Park in the quarter-finals on July 23.

This Friday's matches are: Hodsons Choice v Supreme Frames; Haslingden Methodists v Taverners A. A collection will be taken during the evening for the Mayoral Charity fund from which Chaigley Manor and Maundy Relief will be the main beneficiaries this year.

Results: Great Eastern 665 (S Brankin 25, T Teasdale 2-10, C Addison 2-16), Peel Park 88-2 (T Teasdale 37no, R ADdison 29no, M Tafel 2-21); Everest Juniors 143-1 (S Hussain 76no, M Hul Hussain 37, T Dean 1-30, L Hillman 0-16), Masons Marauders 89-5 (P Stanley 50, T Dean 11no, M Hul Hussain 1-10).

Wednesday: Accrington A 54 (Mus Shah 17, N Stockley 16, L Khan 1-3, NElahi 1-6), Attock 108-4 (K Elahi 30, A Shah 22no, N Mohammed 1-15, N Stockley 1-19).

Taverners Cricket Club, who play in the Accrington and District Cricket League, are holding a special 30th anniversary presentation night on Saturday, November 6 at James Street Club, Accrington.
