Ribblesdale League: Big-hitter Robinson seals win

Wicketkeeper Andrew Robinson was the hero of Padiham's last ball victory over Whalley in the Jennings Ribblesdale League.

Earlier Graham Knowles had scored 80 as Whalley set a target of 162 with Shaun Rashid taking 6-42.

Padiham's reply was led by Philip Metcalfe who rattled up 47, but the Arbories club needed 14 to win off the final over with Robinson cracking two fours and smashing a six off the last ball.

Barnoldswick snatched seven points from Great Harwood who were bowled out for 153 with Michael Scothern taking 5-40. Mike Lord was 77 not out as the Victory Park club secured a four-wicket win.

Terry Little scored 84 not out and team-mate Peter Sleep 52 as Read secured an eight-wicket win over bottom club Blackburn Northern. Northern professional Mark Lomas scored 58, but Sleep took 5-58.

Earby professional Jonathan Harvey was taken to hospital with a dislocated finger after attempting to hold a slick caught and bowled chance off Baxenden's Mark Rishton. Earby set a target of 200-9 with Stephen Pickles top scoring on 70. The match went down to the last two balls but Baxenden just missed out on the points. Clitheroe took the honours against Settle after the Dales club set a total of 187-9 with Mark Verden dismissed on 97. Stephen Bishop top scored for Clitheroe with 74 not out as they completed a six-wicket victory.

Cherry Tree professional Naeem Ashraf kept up his incredible scoring spree with 58 as Cherry Tree reached 161-7, with Billy Slinger taking 5-55. Edenfield had earlier scored 157-6.

Oswaldtwistle Immanuel's professional Russell Whalley scored 75 and Ribblesdale Wanderers captain Gary Monk captured 6-28 as Immanuel reached 160-9. Wanderers captured an eight-wicket win with professional Shahid Nawaz hitting 109 not out.
