Ribblesdale League: Hot shot Jon on mend
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 28 July 1999

In-form Earby professional Jonathan Harvey is hoping to be fit to continue his rich run of form against Whalley on Saturday.

Harvey dislocated the index finger on his right hand when trying to take a catch off his own bowling in Earby's narrow win over Baxenden on Saturday.

But after hospital treatment, Harvey is on the mend and is keen to add to his tally of 880 league runs.

``It should be all right. It's just a case of seeing what happens but already it's better than it was on Saturday,'' he said.

Harvey, who has passed 50 in eight out of his last 10 innings, with three hundreds in that run-spree, is second only to Ribblesdale Wanderers' run-machine Shahid Nawaz in the league run table.

Nawaz's undefeated 109 swept title-chasing Wanderers to victory against Oswaldtwistle Immanuel on Saturday and took the Pakistani stroke- maker's aggregate to 1,117 at an average of 159.
