The Doune club, based in a village east of the Trossachs, are on the verge of establishing a ground of their own.

Doune play all their home games in a public park but they have now signed a 25-year lease on a ground in the spectacular setting provided by nearby Doune Castle, the ancestral home of the earls of Moray and a popular tourist attraction.

The present Earl, together with Historic Scotland, has been active in helping the club to establish this new base which is also next door to the local primary school.

The club has been particularly active in taking Kwik Cricket into the school and will now have facilities which will enable them to broaden their coaching base.

Huntly, who are enjoying a successful first season in the Strathmore Union after stepping up from the North League, face their toughest test to date after being handed a SCU Trophy semi-final tie with Poloc.

However, Huntly have home advantage for Sunday's meeting with the once-mighty Glasgow side who currently languish in the bottom half of the National League Third Division.

Meanwhile, favourites Stirling are at home to Kelburne in the other semi-final.
