Panadura beat SSC to Division II title

Panadura Sports Club beat SSC on first innings in the final to emerge champions of the Cricket Board Division II inter-club cricket tournament concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

SSC, in reply to Panadura SC's first innings total of 213 all out, made 189 all out. The visitors were struggling at 79 for 7 in their second essay but Panadura's close first innings lead was sufficient for them to win the title.

Aravinda 3 for 20

A tight spell of 3 for 20 by former Sri Lanka vice captain Aravinda de Silva, backed by half centuries from I. Galabada and Anil Rideegammanagedara helped Access Group to register a four-wicket win over Sampath Bank in their Mercantile 'A' division cricket tournament match played at Colts grounds, Havelock Park yesterday. Suwanji Madanayake had three wickets for 32 for Sampath Bank, including the prized wicket of Aravinda de Silva for one.

Sampath Bank 176 all out in 49.3 overs (Marvan Atapattu 31, Aravinda de Silva 3 for 20).

Access Group 179 for 6 in 29.5 overs (I. Galabada 51, Anil Rideeggammanagedara 78 n.o., Suwanji Madanayake 3 for 32). (D.W).

Lanka, Tilan steer Seylan Bank

Seylan Bank, helped by a polished 80 by former Sri Lanka wicket keeper, batsman Lanka de Silva and a tight spell of 3 for 31 by Tilan Samaraweeera, beat John Keells by 114 runs in their Mercantile 'A' division tournament cricket match played at NCC grounds, Maitland Place yesterday. Seylan Bank 238 for 7 in 50 overs (Lanka de Silva 80, Pradeep Hewage 44).

John Keells 124 all out in 43 overs (S. Janaka 32, Mahela Jayawardena 2 for 33, Tilan Samaraweera 3 for 31). (DW)

Dharmasena 70

An unbeaten 70 by former Sri Lanka all-rounder Kumar Dharmasena and two accurate spells by Malintha Warnapura and S. Weerakoon piloted Hatton National Bank to a good four-wicket win over Janashakthi Insurance in their mercantile 'A' division tournament match played at Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

Janashakthi 151 all out in 48 overs (S. Rodrigo 45, Malintha Warnapura 2 for 19, S. Weerakoon 2 for 19).

Hatton National Bank 152 for 6 in 41 overs (Kumara Dharmasena 70 n.o., Malintha Waranapura 28 n.o.) (DW)
