Women at leatherball cricket on July 4

A leatherball cricket match between Moratuwa Sports Club and Lanka Ladies Cricket Club will be played on Sunday, July 4, at Moratuwa Vidyalaya playgrounds, Moratuwa commencing at 10.30 a.m.

Moratuwa SC: Rohini Fernando (Capt), Maheshi Bandaranayake, Rangika Dharmasena (W.K.), Manori Ratnayake, Manori Weerasinghe, Nishanthi Kularatna, Nilanthi Dasanayake, Shalindri Ferdinando, Madhuri Samurdika, Chanika Rushanthi, Sajeevani Fernando, Pushpa Kumari.

Lanka Ladies CC: K. R. P. Doolwela (Capt), Kanchana Perera, Ruvini Perera, R. A. Chamalee, Champa Jayawickrama, Rashika Kannangara, Anne Priyanga Silva, Anusha Samanmalee, Sandamali Daluwatte, Niroshini Perera, Nadisha Dushani, Nadika Chuladasa.

Marion Cooray dead

Moratuwa lost one of its favourite cricketing sons with the sad demise of Marion Cooray yesterday.

Cooray, a former St. Sebastian's and Sebastianites cricketer passed away a day before his 49th birthday suffering from terminal illness. At the time of his death he was the curator of De Soysa Stadium.

His funeral takes place at 5 p.m. tomorrow from his residence 85/1 A, Lucien J.D. Silva Mawatha, Uyana Road, Lunawa, Moratuwa.
