Lancashire Six-a-side: Record score as Challenge begins Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 30 June 1999 The preliminary round of the Hyndburn Mayoral six-a-side Challenge got off to a flying start last weekend. Everest Juniors clobbered Masons Marauders for a competition record score of 143-1 in 10 overs of mayhem. Shafiq Hussain hit 76 not out, sharing in an 81 run opening stand with Mahmood Ul Hussain (37). Veteran campaigner Fred Roberts suffered most, his two overs going for 42 runs. Luke Hillman was the most economical Marauder, conceding only 16 runs. Marauders were in with a chance with Phil Stanley at the crease, but when he departed for 50, only Trevor Dean battled through to the end as Everest won by 54 runs. Peel Park won the battle of the locals by 23 runs. Tony Teasdale top scored with 37 not out for Peel Park and Robert Addison hit 29 not out in their side's total of 88-2. Great Eastern lost wickets regularly, reaching 65 in nine overs. Professional Simon Brankin hit 25 for the Eastern. A collection was taken during the evening for the Mayoral Charity Fund, from which Chaigley Manor and Maundy Relief will be the main beneficiaries this year. Results: Great Eastern 65 (S Brankin 25, T Teasdale 2-10, C Addison 2-16), Peel Park 88-2 (T Teasdale 37no, R ADdison 29no, M Tafel 2-21); Everest Juniors 143-1 (S Hussain 76no, M Hul Hussain 37, T Dean 1-30, L Hillman 0-16), Masons Marauders 89-5 (P Stanley 50, T Dean 11no, M Hul Hussain 1-10).
