The top two in the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest - Thushan Amerasuriya - the Royal skipper and Eashan Abeysinghe of Nalanda have both topped the 1,000-vote mark and are presently engaged in a close tussle for the top spot.

Thusan Amerasuriya heads the voting with 1,112 votes, while Anandian Eashan Abeysinghe has polled 1,056 votes.

Muditha Maduwantha of D. S. Senanayake College, who was in fifth position after count on coupon number 5, has climbed up two places and is presently third with 487 votes, while Shanaka Caldera of S. Thomas' is fourth with 374 votes and Upeka Fernando also of S. Thomas' is fifth with 343 votes.

In the Outstation Contest, there is no change in the top spot as Kasun Bulathsinhala of Maris Stella College, Negombo leads with 804 votes, but there was a change for second position with Thushara Madanayake of Kingswood getting there with 242 votes pushing out Ishan Mutaliph of Maris Stella into third position - 240 votes.
