Eashan Abeysinghe of Ananda College and Ishan Mutaliph of Maris Stella jumped into second position of the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year and Most Popular Outstation Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year competitions after count on coupon number nine.

The contests are organised by the Observer and sponsored by Bata Shoe Company of Ceylon Limited.

After count on coupon number 8 the previous week, Thushan Amerasuriya of Royal led with 2,448 votes and he keeps the lead after count on coupon number 9 in the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year with 2,957 votes.

Eashan Abeysinghe who was third after count on coupon number 8, came into second position with 2,608 votes, displacing Muditha Maduwantha of D. S. Senanayake College who was second the previous week. Maduwantha is presently third with 2,584 votes.

In the Most Popular Outstation Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest, Kasun Bulathsinghala of Maris Stella College leads with 2,859 votes, while his schoolmate Ishan Mutaliph is second after count on coupon number 9 with 915 votes and Thushara Madanayake who was second the previous week, drops one place down to third spot with 370 votes.

With the inter-school cricket season almost at its end, these two contests too will end shortly. Coupon number 12 will be the last in these two competitions.

Coupon number 11 will appear from today and will be published in The Observer from Monday till Thursday April 1. There will be no issue of The Observer on April 2 on account of Good Friday. Coupon number 12 will appear in the Sunday Observer of April 4 and will be published in The Observer of Monday April 5 and will be published thereafter till April 9.
