State Services CA decides to vote for Clifford Ratwatte

The State Services Cricket Association has decided to vote for Clifford Ratwatte as president, at the annual general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka scheduled for Sunday (March 28).

The SSCA held their mandate meeting yesterday and on a secret ballot decided to support Ratwatte for the presidency.

Dammika Ranatunga writes ...

With reference to the article titled 'Mystery of BCCSL missing files' appearing in the 'Daily News' on March 24, the BCCSL chief executive Dammika Ranatunga writes:

``In terms of the constitution of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka, the chief executive is in charge of the administration, and the custodian of all property of the Board. Hence, I am responsible for all the files/records maintained at the Board.

``I can vouch for the fact that all the files/records of the Board are still in my custody at the Board headquarters and will remain that way.

``Therefore, the allegations made in the said article is totally false and without any basis whatsoever''.

77th Battle of Nilwala

The 77th 'Battle of the Nilwala' between St. Servatius and St. Thomas' will be played at the Uyanwatte Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

St. Servatius handicapped for nearly a year by having their practice grounds being converted into a modern transport park cum shopping complex, have overcome the disadvantage by winning six out of seven matches played for the season.

Led by Suminda S. Mendis, the Servatian's are confident of performing well despite the handicaps.

The Thomians on the other hand are led by Farhad Farook and have played 10 matches for the season.

The encounter between the two schools is the second oldest in the South, the Richmond-Mahinda tie preceding it.
