S M Jiffrey Abdeen - 18 March 1999

Zahira College, Gampola set up a new record for school cricket in the Central Province when they hit up a massive 512 for 6 declared in their inter-school cricket match against Galagedera Central College which they won by an innings and 307 runs at Zahira grounds, Gampola.

Zahira College who revived senior cricket after a lapse of a few years are going great guns this season, having earlier hit up a huge score of 403 for 9 declared against Ginigathena Central College.
