Barbados League: Police to open vs. Wanderers The Barbados Nation - 7 May 1999 Defending Division 1 champions Police will face Cockspur Wanderers when the Barbados Cricket Association's season opens on May 15. The lawmen, who were run-away winners of the Courts/Suzuki League last year, will be playing at their home base, Weymouth. Cable & Wireless BET, second last year, will be at home to Sports & Games YMPC, while third-placed ICB Empire tackle United Carlton at Black Rock. In the other matches, Banks are at home to ESA Field Pickwick, BCL face CHIC Schools North at Blenheim, CHIC Schools South meet BNB St. Catherine at Deighton Griffith School, and Big B Spartan host Mount Gay Maple at Queen's Park. These matches run for three consecutive Saturdays, ending May 29, but the second round will be played on a Saturday, Sunday, Saturday basis (June 5, 6, 12). In that round: BCL vs United Carlton at Blenheim, CHIC Schools North vs Police at St. James Secondary, ICB Empire vs Banks at Bank Hall, Mount Gay Maple vs CHIC Schools South at Trents, ESA Field Maple vs Sports & Games YMPC at Kensington Oval, BNB St. Catherine vs Big B Spartan at Bayfield, and Cockspur Wanderers vs Cable & Wireless BET at Dayrells Road.
