Trio in for Hegg benefit The Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 22 May 1999 Roger Harper will be joined in the Nelson side by fellow-professionals Anthony Botha (Burnley) and Martin Van Jaarsveld (Lowerhouse) when they take on a Lancashire X1 in a benefit match for Warren Hegg at Seedhill on Thursday, May 27. Lancashire have promised to field a strong side for the game which is one of four being played in different parts of the county. The theme of Hegg's benefit year is for the club to visit parts of Lancashire where they are not usually seen and Nelson was selected as one of the venues because of the club's success in staging county junior fixtures in the last couple of seasons. Admission is by programme, price £3, and they are available from all Lancashire League clubs as well at the gate on the day of the game, which starts at 3pm. Refreshment facilities, including a barbecue, will be provided and, if the game is washed out, the men from Old Trafford have promised to stage a question-and-answer session. In case of no play, the programme will also entitle the holder to free admission to any Nelson home team game. Seedhill vice-chairman Colin Heap said: ``We hope to make this a great day for Warren Hegg and local cricket and we would like to ask our sponsors and other Lancashire League clubs for their support.''
