Premier League: Hele grinds Gribble down Mike Berry - 12 May 1999 Torquay's Andy Hele spared no mercy on his county colleague Mark Gribble with some explosive big hitting in the Devon Senior League. Hele, Devon's first-choice wicketkeeper, took 28 off an over from Gribble in his 86 not out during the draw with Bovey Tracey. Andy Pugh (133 not out) made it two centuries in two games, but again failed to finish on the winning side as Barton reached 196 for four in reply to Exeter's 219 for five. Ian Gore, an Antiguan all-rounder, reached three figures in a mere 38 balls in South Devon's win over Plymstock in the county cup. He made 109, racing from 50 to 100 in just 17 deliveries. Norwich are the early leaders of the East Anglian Premier League, but rain denied them the chance of a second successive win. They were 81 for one chasing Mildenhall's 212 for nine. Peterborough were also out of luck when they dismissed Wellingborough for 67 in the Northamptonshire Championship. Veteran seamer Brian Howard took six for 21, and Peterborough were 25 without loss when the clouds burst. Finedon Dolben are staging a fund-raising match for Winston Davis, the former West Indies bowler who is now a tetraplegic. A Bunbury XI captained by Viv Richards will play a Northants XI on Sunday, May 23.
