The Barbados Nation Warne: It's been a pleasure, as always
The Barbados Nation - 2 May 1999

The portly Australian leg-spinner has rekindled his love affair with Barbados following the recent Cable & Wireless Test and One-Day series.

Bare-backed and wearing a bandana, the fun-loving blond on his third tour to the region said: ``I was first here in 1990 with the Under-19 side and I came again in '95. Everything has been great, and I enjoy the Caribbean immensely especially here (Barbados).

``The people have been very friendly. I enjoy the beaches and wish we had more time here.''

The Australians left for England last night for the World Cup after spending ten weeks in the region. Warne said the trip to the region was a tough one as the results showed.

``Two-all in the Tests and 3-3 in the One-Dayers show that it was a pretty even series,'' Warne said. ``I thought we could have been better at times, but I have had worse tours.''

The Australian vice-captain said he was looking forward to the World Cup.

``I think we are going to do very well in the World Cup. Nearly anyone can win, and I think New Zealand would be a good outside bet.''
