World Cup cricket scorebook
Ranjan Anandappa - 21 May 1999

A World Cup cricket scorebook was launched at the P. Sara Stadium Pavilion by D&D International marketing Ltd. to make the World Cup a more meaningful one.

``The idea of a scorebook of this nature was conceived in our minds in early April said Mohan Dain the Director of D&D International marketing.

``There is tremendous interest during the World Cup and the scorebook will help to make cricket more interesting,'' said Palitha Dediwela the Managing Director of the Company.

The first copy of the scorebook was handed over to the first Sri Lankan Test captain Bandula Warnapura at the Tamil Union C&AC pavilion at a simple ceremony.

Warnapura said that in other countries the Umpires and scorers belong to one Association and in the near future if Sri Lanka forms such an association it will be encouraging the people to take up cricket scoring as a profession.

``Cricket scoring while a match is in progress on TV could bring a person closer to the game where he will know the finer points of the game and scoring and will help to improve even the knowledge of English'', said Warnapura.

The book is the World Cup cricket scorebook 1999.
