Jatinder and Jasvir slam centuries
Raj Kumar - 7 November 1999

Gurgaon: Openers Jitender Singh and Jasvir Singh cracked centuries in the first - wicket stand of 198 runs to pilot Haryana to a comfortable 266 for one on the opening day of the North Zone Ranji Trophy four-day league tie against Services at the Nehru stadium here on Sunday.

Jatinder Singh remained unconquered on 117 with the help of 13 hits to the fence in his 360 minute knock, facing 267 balls while Jasbir (116, 282 minutes, 211 balls, 17 x4 ) fell to Sachin Kulkarni after a splendid knock as both made merry with a vengeance following their loss to Services in the one-day encounter on Saturday.

Electing to bat on a placid wicket, the Haryana openers justified the decision by compiling quick runs. Jasvir completed his hundred first before leg spinnerKulkarni made the breakthrough by dismissing Jasbir soon after the tea interval.

There were no further breakthroughs however for the Services skipper Parender Sharma (batting 26) saw the day through for Haryana along with Jatinder.
