Mahaveer Singh Arya - 13 November 1999

Madhya Pradesh opening batsman Jai Prakash Yadav recorded the highest individual score for his state in the Ranji Trophy yesterday. Yadav scored a brilliant 265 to place M.P. in a commanding position on the second day of the Central Zone Ranji Trophy league tie against Railways at the Maharani Usha Raje cricket ground in Indore. M.P. declared at 538-7. In reply Railways had scored 55-1 at close.

The previous highest individual score for M.P. was 251 by S. Abbas Ali also against Railways at Indore two seasons ago. This was Yadav's seventh century in the Ranji Trophy. He added 212 for the first wicket with Rajagopalan and 133 for the fourth wicket with Abbas Ali. Yadav hit 24 fours and 6 sixes in his 429 ball knock.

Needing 389 to avoid following on, Railways struggled to 55-1 off 33.4 overs. Sanjay Bangar was unbeaten on 30.
