Victorian Squad for the Sheffield Shield Match against Tasmania Victoria Cricket Association - 15 November 1999

The Victorian Selectors have named a squad of 14 players from which the Bushrangers team will be finalised for the Sheffield Shield match commencing against the Tasmanian Tigers at the Punt Road Oval this Thursday. The squad is: The final twelve will be announced on the morning of the match. The Bushrangers will train at the MCG on Tuesday, 16 November at 4.30pm. The Tigers will train at the MCG on Tuesday, 16 November at 10am, with a fielding session at Punt Road on 17 November from 12 noon. The last interstate match to be played at Punt Road (prior to the weekend's Mercantile Mutual Cup match!) was also Victoria v Tasmania in March 1933. Victoria won that match by 6 wickets with "Chuck" Fleetwood Smith capturing 14 wickets in the match, including 9/36 in the first innings. A young Lindsay Hassett, aged 19, played for Victoria scoring 12 and 0. Other notables who participated were for Victoria - Fleetwood Smith, E. Bromley, Joe Plant, and for Tasmania - L. Badcock and C.N. Parry (who later played for South Melbourne). © 1999 Victoria Cricket Association
